Ty-Flot Inc. of NH Awarded Patent for Lanyard Slider

Manchester, NH April 6, 2013 Safety Innovator, Ty-Flot, Inc. earns patent (US Patent Number D679,175 S) for the Ty-Flot Lanyard Slider, an attachment system that significantly reduces safety hazards caused by dropped tools at various heights.

The Ty-Flot created the lanyard sliders to solve the problems caused by the multi piece plastic components of common neck lanyard sliders. A typical neck lanyard slider is constructed with two pieces of molded pieces of plastic snapped together around the cords of a neck lanyard. Due to the variances in the manufacturing of molded plastics the two snapped plastic pieces often fall apart after being installed.

Ty-Flot solved this problem by inventing a single molded piece of rubberized material in which the cords of the neck lanyard are threaded. In addition to the single molded design, the sliders also incorporate an attachment point to provide secondary retention for the lanyard. This creative construction allows the lanyard to be clipped to the shirt preventing the lanyard from falling in the event that it is pulled off the user’s neck.

Popular among organizations focused on increasing safety measures, Ty-Flōt Lanyard Sliders are widely accepted by the Entergy nuclear fleet as a best option for nuclear safety. The lanyard sliders accompany the Ty-Flot Single Tooth Clip (US D699,100 S) in a long line of recent Ty-Flōt innovations created tether tools and prevent foreign materials from contaminating work spaces.
